Late Arrivals
For security reasons, all students who arrive late (after the 9.00am bell) for school must report to the front office, to collect a late note, which is then taken to the class teacher to be noted in the roll.
Punctuality
Please try to be punctual at all times. Ensure your child is at school on time and be prompt at the end of the day when collecting them. It can be extremely traumatic for a child to see classmates collected while being left waiting. Even five minutes can seem a long time in a child's life.
Early Leavers
Parents wishing to pick up their children before normal school finishing time must collect a release note from the front office. This note is then given to the class teacher when the parent collects the child from the classroom. Parents should not visit classrooms or playground without reporting to the office first.
Sick Students
If your child is sick, the best place for them to be is at home with your personal attention, however, children do often become ill at school. In these circumstances they either recover quickly after a short time in Sick Bay or parents are contacted to collect them from school. The emergency contact numbers which you provide are essential for your own peace of mind and your child's well being.
Student Absence
All absences require explanation with a note to the class teacher. Short Term (1 or 2 days) Please provide a note explaining reasons for absence when child returns. Long Term Prior notification by telephone or note if possible will save an official request being sent home after 3 days of absence.
Emergency Contact
Whilst at school, we do our best to ensure that your child receives the best care and attention. Accidents do occur sometimes and it is important that the school office has your current emergency contact telephone numbers at all times. If changes are made to either your home or work telephone numbers, please advise the school office as soon as possible.
Volunteer Helpers
Teachers regularly request parent helpers at school for reading groups, excursions and other class activities. Your class teacher will inform you if parent helpers are required. Please contact your child's teacher if you are able to assist in any way. A Prohibited Employment Declaration needs to be completed as part of a Department of Education and Training requirement. This will be kept on confidential file at the school.
Contacting the class teacher
While teachers are always willing to speak with parents, they cannot leave or be late to their class to do so. If you wish to speak to your child's class teacher, please request an interview at a mutually convenient time. These requests can be made through the front office.
Equipment Needs
Your child will need:
- a school case or bag with a pencil, pen and ruler ( all with the child’s name on them)
- a hat and raincoat ( with your child’s name on them)
- a lunchbox and a drink bottle ( with the child’s name clearly labeled)
- a library bag
